Inspired Design & Development Ltd  is a highly skilled multi-disciplined architectural design and surveying practice, regulated by RICS.

The team is lead by the Director, Gary Black.  Gary has over 23 years construction related experience in a variety of roles including Local Authority Building Standards, major housebuilder construction management and latterly as Operations Director for a national timberframe company. 

Gary qualified with a Higher National Diploma in Building Surveying from Robert Gordon University in 1991 and achieved an Advanced Diploma in Building Control in 1995. 

Starting his working life as a Building Control Officer in 1991, by 1999 Gary was responsible for the overall management of Aberdeenshire Councils Building Standards Service. During his time as Building Standards Manager of Aberdeenshire Council he oversaw and assisted in the implementation of the 2003 Building Scotland Act, held office as a Management Member of the Scottish Association of Building Standards Managers and was privileged to give evidence to the Communities Committee of the Scottish Parliament regarding proposed changes to Building Standards.
From 2005 to 2008 Gary held the position of Construction Manager for Barratt North Scotland Ltd, where he was responsible for the delivery of the company's house building activities on behalf of the Construction Director. Duties included construction management, CDM co-ordination, customer care, staff management, training, management of the company's safety health and environmental procedures and advising on the buildability of the company's developments ranging from flatted developments, conversions and new build dwellings.

From 2008 to 2010 Gary held the position of Operations Director for Robertson Timberkit Ltd operating throughout the UK. Responsibilities included management of design, project management, construction, health & safety and new product development. In this role he assisted in securing and delivering some of the largest projects in the history of the company.

Gary is a professional member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and a member of the Association for Project Safety (MaPS).
